Bruises From Fighting has been an ongoing project spanning over the past year. What started as a one man band in a custom made basement studio has turned into an amazing rock quartet.
Brandon, the first, and at numerous points sole member of the band started out playing the drums, singing and songwriting for a ska band called Risky Business. In the summer of 2003 they broke up, and Brandon decided to start a one man project. In fall of 2003 he completed his basement studio and began recording numerous songs he had written over the years. He played drums, bass, guitar and sang for all the tracks, and cut his first selfproduced, 11 track cd entitled 'Nervous About The Breakdown.'
In November 2004, Brandon moved in with his long term friend and drumline mate Trevor. Together in his dorm lounge, they added piano parts for Trevor to play for most of the songs Brandon had written. For a few months they played shows at a Biddy Mulligans in downtown Dover, NH. In the spring of 2004 yet another aspect was added to the orignial set of songs when Bridgid, a UNH orchestra cello player was added to the group. The three recorded a few songs, but sadly were broken up when Bridgid headed home from New Hampshire for the summer.
Left at an open end, Brandon and Trevor turned to their two good, as well as musically talented friends to see if they could start something up. Andy joined on the drums, and Kevin (a former bandmate from Risky Business) brought his bass as well as production knowledge. In the summer of 2004, things started picking up for the New Hampshire boys. Practices were spent rearranging songs from 'Nervous About The Breakdown', as well as working on new songs. They started playing shows every Wednesday at Biddy Mulligans, and are still a work in progress.
Obviously the songs have all been through a lot of changes, from additions and subtractions of string parts and bass parts. Ultimatley though, this set of members meshes together very well. They all come from a background of DHS marching band education, which gives them not only a familiarity with eachother but a wide base of knowledge. The melodic, catchy tunes are an instant hit. |
