On September 7 1936, in Lubbock Texas, was born one of the most important Rock and Roll legends . His parents , Mrs. Ella and Mr. Lawrence Holly, called their fourth children, Charles Hardin; although they nicknamed him Buddy Holly.
Holly's parents always encouraged him and his brothers love for music. At the tender age of five, Buddy won the frist five dollars prize, singing "Down the river of memories".
Later he took a few months of piano lessons and then a brother taugh him some guitar lessons. He learned some chords and then he developed a new style of playing the guitar.
later, when he was studying at Hutchinson High, he formed a group with his friend Bob Montgomery.
then, the bass player Larry Welborn. They played at high school parties, gasoline station openings, ann in Lubbock Radio Station. By 1956, Buddy Holly recorded two singles on Decca, without success.
But in 1957, Buddy and his fellows went to Norman Petti's Studio in New Mexico; Bob & Larry were repaced by Jerry Allison,Joe B. Mauldin and Niki Sullivan , there, in Petti's Studio the band became "The Crickets".
The first single of The Crickets"That'll Be The Day",released in 1957, achieved a great success charting 2nd. place on Rhythim & blues charts.
They appeared on television shows such as: "American Bandstand"and "The Ed Sullivan Show" also they were on tour with all the famous artists of the moment. Then Buddy recorded his second solo single "Peggy Sue" and "Everyday " on the flip side. With The Crickets Buddy recorded " Oh Boy" It became a sucess. Buddy Holly and The Crickets became popular Rock and Roll Stars.
In the summer of 1958, Buddy holly broke up The Crickets and decided go solo. After a very short relationship he marries Maria Elena Santiago, a recepcionist of the music company.
By January 1959, Buddy Holly starts "The Winter Dance Party Tour", where he performs his last appereance on Februare 2nd, 1959.
After appearing on stage , tired of the cold weather and traveling by bus, Buddy chatered a plane to fly to Fargo. Buddy's band, gave up theis seats to Ritchie Valens ( another great rock'n'roll star who at the age of 17 became very popular), and to The Big Booper (anothe great star).
Sadly the plane crashed just after taking of and unfortunately there weren't any survivors.
In 1978, was made the movie "The buddy Holly Story" Gary Busey who performs Buddy Holly , did a great job.
"February 3rd. 1959, at the age of 22 , died Buddy Holly, many people cried then, but i'm still crying. That day The Rock AND Roll Star died, but was born THE LEGENG, AND THAT, THAT WILL NEVER DIE.
