| Bumlazy began in 2003. They played at a local arts club in a bar on the seafront of Bray, a small sea side town on the east coast of Ireland. It was a twenty minute spot and the crowd were pretty suprised. Someone commented 'At least my ears weren't bleeding'. The bands songs are melodic and hold lyrical dexterity.
That gig in the bar is now over a year ago and the band have grown both mentally, physically and sonically. There are now six core members with one in and out and a few hangers on here and there. With three sonwriters in the band and four singers the sound is constantly changing, the moods are varied and the over all mix is eclectic. They have been compared to many differnt bands and singers. Some have mentioned 'The Birthday Present' Nick caves band before the bad seeds. Others make comparisons to Wilco and Creedance clearwater Revival. Their sound is hard to pin down and place in any particular genre. Their view on music is open. They believe that music should be allowed to roam and collect as it progresses. They are definitely not a trendy band and probably don't fit into the cuurent landslide of garage rock and fake punk rock but they have a sound that will grow on anyone. |
