The Campaign 1984 was born and bred in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina in late 2004. In the span of a little less than a year, they self-produced, -financed, -recorded, and -released their first LP "Jazz For Burning", inked a deal with Long Island based Five Point Records to release their second LP "Blood For Nashville", and hit the road on four, month-long tours up and down the East Coast. The band has survived solely on a DIY mentality. Both LPs "Jazz For Burning" and "Blood For Nashville" were produced, financed, and recorded by the band themselves. The Campaign bring this mentality onto the road as well, having toured consistently in support of "Blood For Nashville" since February of 2006. Every tour has been planned and booked by the band, with the help of friends and bands across the East. Plans are already in motion for a cross-country tour beginning mid-June of 2006. This will take the band from New York to Los Angeles, and back.
Southern as eff (but without the lynching), the Campaign has been hell bent on bringing the dirty south to the rest of the country. With a punk rock-meets-southern rock musical vendetta, it's as if you tossed Axl Rose and a fifth of Jack Daniels into a blender. Matt Anderson's vocal assault nearly matches his Slash-esque guitar chops; Dakota Wadell thickens the sound with grinding bass riffs; Justin Biltonen's guitar playing and stage presence personifies "the King"; and Matt Ring plays drums while reliving the glory days of the Misfits. These elements combined create the attitude and charisma that drives the Campaign 1984. |
