C.D. Stone was born and raised in Chicago; where, at an early age, he became deeply rooted in the blues and jazz traditions. His early influences and mentors included: Junior Wells, Red Garland, Grant Green, Carey Bell, Joe Pass, Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan and Big Walter Horton.
In addition to being a first call session player in Chicago, Dallas, Boston and New York, Carl has appeared throughout the U.S. with legendary stars such as Red Garland, The Basie Band, Big Walter Horton and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, as well as having made numerous jazz and blues performances.
During his formative Chicago years, he was a regular at clubs such as Kingston Mines, Club B.L.U.E.S., Biddy's, Theresa's and The Checkerboard Lounge, in Chicago, Michael's in N. Y. C., Wally's, Harpers Ferry, The Willow in Boston as well as Dallas' own 1359.
In 1998 after 20 years of studio work and rare jazz performances he decided "I just gotta' be me "and went home to the Blues…
