Cecilia Coleman (b. 09/08/1962) was born and raised in Long Beach, CA. and graduated from California State University of Long Beach in 1986 with a Bachelors Degree in Music (emphasis Jazz). She began playing piano at age 5 and jazz around age 14. She studied jazz improvisation with Charlie Shoemake.
In 1990 she released her 1st CD "Words of Wisdom" which featured trio and quintet. Since then she has 6 more CD's under her own name on a variety of labels. She has been the jazz piano instructor at her alma-mater CSULB since 1995 and also plays for the Modern Dance Center of Westchester (NY). |
