Charlotte Church was born on February 21, 1986 in Cardiff, Wales, Llandiff. At only three years old, this genius began performing publicly. At eight years old, she was a regular at local karaoke competitions. She then began doing television appearances. At only 11 years of age, church sand “Pie Jesu” on the television show, Talking Telephone Number 1975. She was seen by Sony executives, and was soon after signed to Sony Classical.
In 1998, Church released her debut album entitled Voice of An Angel in 1998. The album, which received considerable media attention, did very well (platinum in the US and top ten in the UK). That same year, Church was invited by both the Pop and president Bill Clinton to sing during New Years Eve. She declined, however, stating that she just wanted to be with her family.
In 1999, Church released her self titled album, Charlotte Church. That album also went platinum in both the United States and in the United Kingdom. She promoted her album by appearing on the Rosie O’Donnell Show, David Letterman, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
In 2000, the young singer released a Christmas album entitled, Dream a Dream. This album was also very successful. In Fall 2001, Charlotte Church released Enchantment. Church is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the youngest artist to ever have a #1 hit.
