| The New Year was 2003. An adolescent musically talented Garrett Ottney decided to take up the electric guitar. One day Trent Schug, who had been playing drums for about a year, said to Garrett, "We should like jam or something after school." Garrett agreed and so they did. It wasn't much of a jam. Played about half of Green Day's "Brain Stew" over and over then called it a night. From there they decided to invite Joe Best in to play Bass. Now they needed a name. The name came about in 8th grade P.E. class when to avoid cursing Trent said "Chit." May not be the greatest name in the world but there have been much worse. It's about the music anyway... Their first performance was at a Junior High dance. They played Green Day's "Brain Stew" and Godsmack's "Voodoo"... That was nothing special at all, but would not be realized until watching the video about a year later. About 6 months later (August, 2003) John Lindelof was asked to join the band to play Rhythm Guitar and possibly a little singing. Things have only gotten better since. In early 2005 Bass player Joe Best left the band. Chit has been playing mostly in local venues but plans to do a little bit more traveling in 2006 along with the release of their debut CD coming in the spring/summer of 2006. |
