Early musical influences came from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Andy Irvine, Nick Drake, Donovan, Woody Guthrie, Tom Paxton, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Planxty and Luke Kelly.
The people and places that Ciaran encounters on his travels feature in a lot of his songs; often presented as hero or sanctuary. His version of political and social commentary is communicated on that personal level where his songs reflect intimate moments in his own life or adopt the circumstance of others close to him.
