Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda started out as 2 Japanese girls in New York, they didn't know either one existed, until the fateful day that they met up through mutual friends. They started out in a band named Leitoh Lychee but soon left, and started their own band. and this is how Cibo Matto got started. Miho was the vocals, and Yuka was just about everything else, producer, synthesizer-worker-person, back-up vocals, and just about everything else. Soon enough, Sean Lennon came along. Yes, the name is familiar, and yes, he is the son of the infamous Beatle, John Lennon. He plays bass guitar for the band, and also has a solo act of his own. Not only does he do all of that, but he is the boyfriend of Yuka. Timo Ellis also joined Miho and Yuka and is now playing drums for the band. Duma Love also joined and is the percussionist who has just become a daddy (CONGRATS!). They have worked with many artists including Beastie Boys, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Yoko Ono, and MANY MORE! If you want to listen to their albums, but not sure which ones, let me help you out. If you are into hip-hop, funky, LOUD, totally GROOVY music, listen to Viva! La Woman! If you want mostly everything above, but also more mellowed out music, I suggest Stereotype A! Lucky ol' me was blessed enough to meet them on the night of Friday, September 24th, at a Concert in Austin.
