| I got a small town hustle, but big city dreams. That’s the quote for 2008. I'm creating the type of music that I miss,(80s,90s hiphop)good music that is deep and meaningful. My name is Corey Sampson aka CLS and I’m a rapper/songwriter from Easton, Maryland. To make a long story short, after high school I attended college (business major) for a couple of semesters, but due to financial reasons I had to drop out. As a result of that, and months of working dead end jobs, I ended up joining the U.S. Army and I was stationed in Fort Hood which is in Killeen, Texas. This was also the place where I officially started my music career. Summer of 2003, I met a local producer name Lieutenant through a mutual friend. He took me under his wing, and introduced me to the lab. After weeks and months of writing and sharpening my skills as an artist, I did my first music showcase and was featured on the 254 I&I Records Compilation Mix tape. Prior to me getting out of the military (February 10, 2004) I continued to write songs, and perform at different venues around the city. Along the way I met another talented artist/producer name DJ Dot-Nice who later became my friend and mentor. Creatively we shared the same vision and through his music and guidance, he helped mold me into the artist I am today. Besides that my earliest influence would have to be my father who was a DJ at a local radio station. Between school and the house I grew up in I was exposed to different styles of music, so I guess you can say this was destine to be………… |
