CoelacanthDance (pronounced SEAL-a-canth-Dance) is a brand new musical entity comprised of some of the members of a previous band - zOmAa, who had developed a devout local following in Regina, SK, and had been featured on both local and national CBC.
CoelacanthDance started as a one person studio project of original instrumental compositions by Steve McDonnell playing all instruments: guitars, bass, keyboards and drum programming, plus contributions from 2 other local musicians Todd Bryanton and Don Modderman.
The music is an eclectic swirling stew of ‘Rock/World Fusion/Groove/Psychedelia’.
Influences range from a wide variety of sources: Hawkwind, CAN, King Crimson, Soft Machine, Ozric Tentacles, TOOL, Grateful Dead, Phish, Nag Champa Incense, Tabla Beat Science, British style pickled onions, Jimi Hendrix, Thai Curry, fish & chips, soft grey mornings, the phases of the moon, Dr. Who, to name a few.

When not jamming and creating music in the 'niche-marketed category', I make my living as a graphic designer, illustrator and web designer and have a portfolio site @: www.dalek.ca |
