The Jacksonville, Florida based band known as Cold have made giant leaps in the world of Metal. From local musicians to one of the most succesful bands of our time, Cold has reached a musical landmark where not many bands have gone before.
Cold has a sound of it's own. From the rip-roaring guitar riffs to the heavy and dark bass and drums, Cold is really one of a kind. What really makes Cold unlike any other band out their is the unique voice of Scooter Ward who formed the band. Along with the guitarist, Kelly Hayes, the other guitarist, Terry Balsamo, the bassist, Jeremy Marshall, and the drummer, Sam McCandles.
Cold gets it's roots from Glen Danzig and Tool and sound alot like them. Cold tends to stay on the darker side of music due to Scooter Wards hard life at an early age that many dont feel. Scooters tortured soul comes out in his music with a dark and angry tone. Cold has very aggresive music but is coming around.
Cold became a well known band after Limp Bizkit heard them in a bar. Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit's lead singer) was so blown away by the sound of Cold, that he signed them to A&M Records in 1997. Cold came out with their own self-titled album in 1998 and had few success but ended up pulling through barely with hits like Give and Go Away.
The next two years would be tough and Scooter got alot of his anger out with constant touring. In early 2000, Cold came out with their next album 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage and had a little more success with their self proclaimed Just Got Wicked, No One, and End Of The World. They were invited to Ozzfest and got an even bigger fanbase. They became more well known around the country.
Heavy touring got them an even stronger fanbase and on May 13, 2003, Cold came out with their best album yet. Year of the Spider showed amazing success and got on the Billboards at No. 2 tying Staind's 14 Shades of Grey. Their hit Stupid Girl got on the charts at No. 1 and so did Suffocate.
Cold is now one of the most succesfull bands around now and are gaining more popularity. Everyone is now awaiting their next album.

Bald lead singers Does anyone else besides me notice the gimmick among rock bands with bald lead singers? Here are some examples: Cold (of course), Finger Eleven, Staind, Godhead, Disturbed, etc. Isn't that a coincidence?

| no, not really.... tons of bands share looks... especially the long hair, and some are like starting to bald.I hate the people that are like balding and sing punk or emo, they seem like they're immature, they seriously need to get over themselves except bert from the used, he looks older than he actually is, in reality, he's 23. but either way, cold is a cool band, i have their cd "year of the spider" and my favorite is sadhappy because i date a drunk, i was suicidal, i was on drugs, my parents wanted me to go to jail because i was so called abusive...they call it agression, i call it self-defense. I guess you have to lik realate to some songs in order to like them. | marilynmanson_666 | Hmm...suicidal? I'd recommend listening to The Downward Spiral by NIN, the song actually, but if you wanna listen to the whole album, go ahead. If you like Manson you should like Nine Inch Nails as well. | St_Michael | | | |
