Part sound experiment and part rock band, The Curiously Strong Peppermints are a Minneapolis-based avant-pop quartet who self-produce post-psychedelic rock with multicolor instrumentation.
The Curiously Strong Peppermints began as the recording project of Jesse Miller. Finishing up an unfinished demo of Jesse's songs from his previous band, the now out of print Cherry-Flavored Apple EP was self-released in the spring of 2004. The EP was less an official release and more of a catalyst for new songs & recordings and prompted the formation of a live band...
Jesse drafted multi-instrumentalist Ben Swanson and session drummer Stephan Ahonen and started work on the band's debut single Sonic Bliss. Self-released on the internet in the fall of 2004, the single topped the on-line Avant-Pop charts. The band began more recordings for single and compilation releases with drummer Eric Reiter in early 2005. A split 7" with his other project was planned but never released...
After a brief lull in 2005, the band drafted multi-instrumentalist Scott Petersen and recruited Eric as their perminant drummer. The Curiously Strong Peppermints are currently recording their debut LP Endless Fields of Poppy and are in-talks with European indie label Dirty Patches for releases in 2006.
