Cyan are vibrant genre crossing, singer-songwriter/guitarists.
'Thanks' & 'Let Me In' represent the successful collaboration between Cyan and George Shilling (Producer of UK and Worldwide hits for Yazz, Teenage Fan Club, Primal Scream and Gabrielle to name a few).
Cyan’s guitar work melds pop, jazz, folk and blues which combined with their insightful lyrics create a unique sound.
Being a very popular live act also Cyan can take an audience through hope and longing to uplifting fun fusing dynamic live energy and song craft.
Cyan's continuing aim is to take a fusion of musical styles and craft them into a new and exciting sound which is uniquely theirs.
Coming from musical background (father a respected saxophonist), Cyan has been playing music since the age of 7. He started with piano but feeling that it was not his natural medium of expression he moved to trumpet and sax. He played with Cheltenham Youth Brass Orchestra for 2 years, having attained competence in these instruments. Finally, at the age of 16, he found guitar and then musically things fell into place.
After finding his feet as a guitarist in several small local bands Cyan decided to go it alone to specifically concentrate on developing his original material. He has spent eighteen months showcasing and honing his material at live nights and because of the success of this he has attained professional management. Under the guidance of the latter Cyan joined forces with producer George Shilling with stunning results such as Thanks and Let Me In.
Influences Include: Colin Hay, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, U2, Thunder, Donovan, Bob Marley and Sting.
In September 2005 Jim Barrow joined Cyan.
After leaving the armed forces having decided that green was not his colour he formed ‘Dorf Tofler’ with the artist formerly known as Jordan Court (now known as Cyan).
He then decided to concentrate on starting his family for a few years. After this he decided to join Cyan on a never ending world tour that allows him to live the rest of his life in hotels. A great fan of Classic Rock he brings a steady hand and driving rhythm with his Guitar work, as well as his song writing prowess ‘Regrets’ and his dulcet vocals.
Influences Include:Thunder, Iron Maiden, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Bruce Dickinson, and (of course) Cyan
Cyan continues to work with George on his debut concept album for which Cyan has the following stated mission: ‘to try and capture the joy, sorrow, anger and regret we all experience when Searching For A Soul To Share.’
