Dan Anies is a composer, performer, arranger and music teacher from Spain. He is classically educated starting at the age of 8 at the Conservatory of Music in Barcelona, where he studied cello, piano and composition. He has conducted several choirs in the city of Barcelona. He has great capacity for improvisation, taking music from Persian classical themes to Irish folklore plus many other traditions. On many different occasions he has toured internationally giving concerts with spiritual inspiration in different European countries for example, Poland, Check Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and France.
He has performed and conducted a choir composition at the Conservatory of Music in Victoria. He sang and performed his improvisation pieces and written work in different locations throughout Vancouver and other BC cities. Dan has worked for the advanced ballet classes at the Eagle Arts Academy which took place in Shawnigan Lake, B.C, on August 4-9, 2003, demonstrating his keen abilities to adapt his fluid improvisional style to the regiments of classical ballet with well known professional dancers and choreographers like, Travis Birch and Rena Robinson-Steiner.
He has accompanied the Academy Vocal Ensemble at the Eagle Arts Academy in Shawnigan Lake, B.C the same summer 2003, exemplifying professionalism and loyality in his work. He worked in that special occasion with the writer, singer performer and recording artist Lucy Shropshire. He has recorded a CD with the song-writer artist Moira Campbell, playing the cello, keyboard and vocals. This CD will be released soon. As well, he has recorded a song for Cheryl Abigail Macpherson' CD ''Amhran Auran'', called Angel Bones on cello.
Dan has worked on choir compositions where he derives the most spiritual inspirations and all sorts of compositions related with the Canadian culture. Presently he is studying Electro Acoustic Composition at the Conservatory of Music of Victoria. As well he is a member of the Conservatory Choral at the Conservatory of Music of Victoria and member of the Honorous Youth Orchestra at the CSMV. |
