DARIO BOENTE
Argentine born Dario Boente is a fiery pianist and composer whose contribution to New York’s electro/dance scene makes a global debut with "Huge in Japan". An alchemy of tradition and rebirth, Dario’s third major project establishes his rhythmic drive as fully charged and places him in a groove of his own.
Over jazz foundations Dario layers the grime and groove of New York and London, the heart beats of Brazil, the rituals of Argentina and the mother tongues of Africa. Energy in its purest form, Dario harnesses his discipline into sharp musical choreography with an unmistakably mischievous edge.
For "Huge in Japan" Dario teams up with inspired musicians from around the globe. Collaborators include Ronny Jordan on guitar, Antonio Sanchez on drums (Pat Metheny Group), Jorge Pardo on flute (Paco de Lucia, Chick Corea), Luis Quintero on percussion (Louie Vega, E.O.L), Gregoire Maret on harmonica (Pat Metheny Group), Hector del Curto on bandoneon (Pablo Ziegler), and African singer Francis Mbappe.
Currently, Dario is a member of Grammy winning Louie Vega’s “Elements of Life.” and plays with Grammy nominee Ronny Jordan.
As a side man, Dario played and recorded with Ximo Tebar, Mino Cinelu, Frank Lacy’s “13 Piece Band” and Victor Jones’s “Culturversey.” He performed piano duets with Dave Kikoski and Richie Beirach, and played keyboard on Big Joe Turner’s European tour, while living in London in the early 90s.
Dario has performed in more than 14 countries worldwide. He currently lives in New York City.
