Deadsun was formed when guitarist Rex Arthur, drummer Adam Hempseed and singer Todd Cadorette joined forces in Nov. 2001. Rex and Adam had met through a mutual aquaitance who had placed a “drummer wanted” flier at the local music store. Todd had played with Adam in different bands since they both attended Beech High School in Hendersonville, TN.
The three instantly formed a strong bond based on their mutual love for music to form the core of Deadsun. Building upon the foundation of Rex’s catalogue of hard driving riffs and meaningful lyrics, they began recording demos and developing the own unique style.
A bass player added soon thereafter. Within weeks the band was playing gigs nearly every weekend to quickly develop a tight and energetic live show. Dee Adman (former bassist for local favorites Medicine Man) joined the Band in 2004 and completed the lineup with his tight grooves and massive low end.
After a year and a half of relentless practice and shows Deadsun went into the studio with seven time Grammy nominated engineer producer Jim Lightman. What started out as a demo evolved into the full length CD “Degenerate Matter”.
In March 2004 “Degenerate Matter” was released to an enthusiastic crowd of 250 at Nashville’s Blue Sky Court. “Degenerate Matter” has gone on to sell 1200 units and has received airplay on 67 college radio stations in the U.S. and Canada.
Deadsun has shared the stage with Hard Rock heavyweights Sevendust, Saliva, Velvet Revolver, 10 Years, Powerman 5000 and Dark New Day among others.
Deadsun was recently awarded the “Listener’s Choice” award from 102.9 The Buzz in Nashville, TN. The band was featured on a TV show called “Not Just Country” to air April 1st on Upn.
The band continues to build on the success of “Degenerate Matter” with their second release entitled “Falling Away” slated to drop June 10th with a CD release show at 12th and Porter. The Upcoming release “Falling Away” showcases Deadsun’s development as musicians and songwriters while it chronicles the trials and tribulations of life for a band on the brink.
Deadsun melds solid matter with pure energy. Their ability to break the mold in this day and age of clone acts puts the band position to have a break out year in 2006. |
