| So many bands in the past have tried to fuse death metal and hardcore.
Some have been more successful than others, but few have managed to
pull it off as well as Deadwait. - Play Magazine
In February of 2001, the brutal truths of this cruel and unforgiving world spat forth a bastard son named Deadwait. Anger and rage run rampant through the lyrics and music of this six man band.
Chaz Hendrick (Hardcore Vocals), and Frank Connors (Death/Black Metal Vocals) combined voices lend the music great depth and counterpoint each other well. James (Guitar) and Randy Harriman (Guitar) together maintain a balance of pure unbridled aggression and thick heavy grind lines. Throw in the dynamic rhythm of Adam Curtis (Bass) and Chris Tallerdy (Drums), and what you have is the sound of what could be the next big thing.
Deadwait has played their own brand of hardcore/death metal to an ever increasing audience, always evolving their sound, and earning new fans with every live riff played, earning a reputation for one of the most intense live shows from an unsigned band along the way.
Deadwait has had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the heaviest bands in the world of metal and hardcore including Motorhead, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Super Joint Ritual, Devil Driver, Today is the Day, SkinLab, Behemoth, Hate Eternal, Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, Goatwhore, Anthrax, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, M.O.D., Skinless, Cradle of Filth and many more.
“Judged Before Death”, the bands second release, received the praise of critics from all over the world. “Grabs you by the love handles and gives ya a nice, bitter head butt” and “Pretty impressive” are how Craig Gilbert of the New Haven (CT) Advocate stated his love for this album. “Deadwait is just ultra-fucking heavy. That's the only way to describe them” is what Thomas Pizzola of the Hartford (CT) Advocate had to say. “This is fucking boisterous, rowdy metallic hardcore that is just so hard-hearted and uncompromising” and “it pounds the shit out of your speakers with 100% crude ferocity.” are how NoFrontTeeth.co.uk liked this album. “This band has taken death metal and hardcore and added other metallic touches to find their own sound” and “extremely brutal that have really brutal vocals without being guttural” is what the reviewers at MusicExtreme.com had to say. And national monthly publication Sound Check Magazine had this to say. “Lightning fast riffs, a crushing double-bass drum assault, and enough pure condensed anger to break a brick wall by just turning this up a bit too loud”.
“Rebirth” the latest release, is already gaining press. “Deadwait shoves its distinctive blend of dark anger right down your throat and makes your like it” and “The entire album flows well and highlights the cohesive vision of a mature band that knows what it wants to say” are just a few of the things J. Matthew Root of Play Magazine had to say. “A thick, abusive bile pissing release” and “Drain makes me wanna clothesline Von Dutch cap-wearin’ hardcore kids.” from Craig Gilbert of the New Haven (CT) Advocate. “Guitars drive the tunes with dexterity, altering time signatures and generously employing no-nonsense riffage.” and “Not for the faint of heart” is what Patrick Ferrucci thought. This is only just the beginning......
