Deicide burns a hole in todays death metal society providing heavy brutal melodic strumms and defying rebelious lyrics.
the group is mad up of 4 members:
glen benton: bass and vocals. satanic superstar, glen grew up with his grandmother, eve from childhood frowning over donations to churches. His anger toeard religions has brought him to write sensational highly opinionated lyrics in songs such as "bible basher" and "blame it on god". has an upsidedown cross branded in center forehead and named his recent son "daemon" which means "ruler of the supernatural".
eric and brian hoffman: brothers in guitars. they have twin lip rings.
steve asheim: drums.
Deicide arose from tampa, florida in 1987 with band name Amon. Playing small gigs and producing demos, they caught roadrunner records attention, and from there signed with them and changed their name to deicide. by 1990 "deicide", the self-titled album delivered a blistering effect on the floridian death metal scene. They continued recording at the ever famous Tampa's Morrisound Studio and landed themselves an article in british magazine "terrorizer". By 1992 deicide relesed album "legion" which was satisfyingly obscene with their taste for anti-christ attention. By that time, they were scowled upon by animal ctivists and churches because of their "delightful" habit of showering the people at their shows with real animal organs. This anger in society only encouraged their venegeful acts.
1993, at their peak, and still going! roadrunner re-released their demo titled "amon: feasting the beast" which was much rawer and and bare then the rest of the albums. Already enourmously famous, by 1995 "once upon the cross" reached death metal heaven heights and earned thorough respect of many doubters. The cover was so rebellious, that it was censored priro to its rellease, the cover in fact showed a cut up christ, lovely. bentons becoming a father did not tire him or stop him from releasing 1997 "serpent of light" and 1998 "when satan lives". 200 and things where still going smoothly, with promises of many more albums to be released such as 2000 "Insineratehymn" and "In Torment In Hell" in 2001. by the recent album of 2001, deicide tired of roadrunner and signed to new record label earache which marked the release of "Scars Of The Crucifix" in febuary 2004. today they tour and continue working on their next album which will once again burn a hole in modern society religion, opinion, and death metal. LONG LIVE DEICIDE!
