"Demons" have been kicking up dust with their uncompromising music and attitude. The bands' hard, driving, high energy sound plus their non-stop work ethic has won acclaim on US shores . The well respected punk label Bomp Records called their debut-EP "Demons" Come Bursting Out, a modern classic and American college radio has played the bands' music frequently. But Europe has not been left untouched. The debut album "Riot Salvation" was voted punk rock album of the year in one of the biggest rock magazines in Italy, Rumore. "Demons" has also been featured in Italian magazines like Rock Sound and Metallic KO, who put the band on the cover! They have done three extensive US tours in a year, the last playing 26 dates in 25 days. They recently played with the New Bomb Turks to promote the brand new "Demons" offering Stockholm Slump (Gearhead Records RPM 032).
The record was produced once again by Tomas Skogsberg (Hellacopters, Gluecifer, New Bomb Turks a m o). It delivers twelve (thirteen on the vinyl) tracks of pure, punk rock blasts recorded in the infamous Sunlight Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. And while other European punk rock bands try to revive the '60s and '70s both in music and fashion, "Demons" follow their primal instincts and go against the stream. Treating their beloved roots from the late '60s Detroit pound, the mid '70s New York scene and to the '90s garage punk explosion somewhat like The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks treated their R&B. "Demons" present their own version of rock n' roll with passion, desperation and violence.
"Demons" was formed some time in '95. But high school friends Mathias, Stefan and Micke had planted the seed as early as '88 when they were in their early teens. Around 1990 their efforts evolved into the band Jawbation and in a way they pioneered the hard Scandinavian rock n' roll movement mixing early punk with garage and pre punk. Muffins was at the time in the Debris. When both these bands disintegrated they formed "Demons". The band name was chosen to emphasize the members past in different gangs in the northern suburbs of Stockholm. They put quotes in the logotype to part them from other bands with similar band name ideas.
After appearing on a number of compilations the band released their debut 7" Electrocute in 1997 on the Philadelphia-based label Ruff Nite. The year after they put out the critically acclaimed six-song-EP, "Demons" Come Bursting Out!, on Swedish Steer Records, that landed them a deal with Gearhead Records where they released the debut album Riot Salvation in 2000. Then the band toured the west coast in September 2001 with The Fleshtones and Gaza Strippers. In Las Vegas they performed for 1500 people at the festival "Las Vegas Shakedown".
In February of 2002 the recordings for Stockholm Slump were made. Then the band returned to the US in March for a tour with The Dragons. This time it took them coast to coast and down to the south where they played the infamous South by Southwest with great result. Back in Scandinavia they played all three of the Gearhead festivals "Gearfest" in Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo. After doing the finishing touches on Stockholm Slump they once again traveled to the states for a month-long tour together with The New Bomb Turks.
During 2003, "Demons" have been working on a lot of new material and toured Italy and the UK for the first time and then again as a part of their European tour which also included Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. In Feb 2004, "Demons" hit the USA once again on their first headlining US tour, supporting the release of the new compilation of rare stuff, Demonology, playing both Noise Pop and SXSW.
In April, the band did an amazing first Japanese tour.
Sadly by the end of summer, Muffins decided to leave the band. Although a hard blow for the band, Mathias, Micke and Stefan decided to continue as play and write new songs.
By the end of 2004, "Demons" emerged with a new energetic bass player, a heap of new, greater-than-ever songs.
