D'LAYNA is an inspired and inspirational vocalist/writer/producer whose uplifting voice regularly lights up the skies over clubland from sunny San Francisco to urban New York and abroad. Her spiritual "Love Is The Answer" is what she refers to as her picket sign for peace, a beautiful, soul anthem with a thought-provoking message for our times. Peace is timeless she says, lets take the message to the floor.
But D'Layna isn't simply just the dynamic "dancefloor diva". She is equally skilled in the recording studio, holding co-production credits for the creative sound development of Picture Perfect a Latin female group. D'Layna also travelled the world on MC Hammer's memorable and successful "1992 Too Legit to Quit" Tour as leader of female vocal group.
Indeed, music has been D'Layna's life since she was 11 years old and first heard "the Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin and, later, her disciple Chaka Khan. D'Layna's music took on an even more spiritual dimension when she joined the gospel world, learning from such consummate professionals as Walter, Tramaine and Edwin Hawkins of the influential Love Center Choir. D'Layna also toured over six years with Lynette Hawkins-Stephens, better known as "Little Sis".
The list of studio luminaries with whom D'Layna has worked is endless… including Grammy award-winning producer Michael Narada Walden (producer of Whitney Houston, Patti Austin, Aretha Franklin et al), Carl Wheeler (of the multi-platinum recording group "Tony, Toni, Tone"), Louis Biancanello (producer of Jessica Simpson, Aretha Franklin and many more), Felton Pilate (of Confunction and Andy Norell), Sista Monica, Tony Lindsay and many more.
D'Layna is also proud to be the first Latina to receive an award from "Sistuh to Sistuh", a Bay Area women's music organization, in recognition of her musical activities and vocal gift.
After her success as a producer/writer, D'Layna effortlessly stepped across into the lively underground house scene where she collaborated with Production Team "Soul Vision" alongside Jose Burgos (Soul Creation/Basscleff Records) and Sandy Rivera (Kings of Tomorrow) to create such dancefloor favorites as "Don't Stop" and "You've Been on My Mind"(Fluential).
Throughout 2001, D'Layna's acclaimed "Special", Kings of Tomorrow remix, made huge waves on the underground club scene, with the dub being snapped up for licensing on Victor Calderone's "E=VC2, Vol 2", (Tommy Boy Silver Label), and on John Blair's Logic Records (both released March 2001).
Most recently, D'Layna joined forces with High Spies, Olav Basoski, Alex Romano, Julius Papp, Luis Radio, DJ MFR, and Vincent Kwok. This has been a busy year for D'Layna with 7 releases........and more to come.
