Thursday, May 31st, 2007 Wake Up Call Wake Up Call America!
As with many of us independent artists I have a full time job to pay the bills. For me that job is closely related to Hank Hill’s job, from King Of The Hill.
I work in the propane industry.
Well this past week something happened that made the war in Iraq hit close to home for me.
I went to do a gas service check at a house in the country outside Franklin, Tn, where some people had purchased this really nice house. Nothing fancy just a nice place.
I went to the door , and a lady answered the door, I’d say she was around 25 or thereabouts.
She invited me in. I followed her to the to the kitchen to check out her range.
There was a couple of men there, one at the kitchen table, and the other standing in the middle of the kitchen, and there was a little girl about 4 years old I’d say.
I didn’t pay much attention at first, and went about my business checking out the range. When I finished I asked the lady of the house to show me to the dryer, and that’s when I noticed the man standing had a walking stick, he was blind.
I finished with the dryer, and asked if they had any gas logs. I followed her to the basement, and as I checked out the logs, down on my knees in front of the fireplace, we began talking.
I could tell by the boxes all around they had just moved in.
I commented on their nice house, and she began telling me that they just moved in, that her husband had been in the service, and he had been stationed in Germany for eight years, and that’s where they met. She was an Army brat, and her father was also stationed in Germany. Her husband, and her had met, fell in love, got married, and had a little girl, all while stationed in Germany.
I said well at least your husband wasn’t stationed in Iraq, that’s when she said, Well actually, he had been stationed in Iraq, and that’s were he was when some type a flash weapon went off in his face, and now he is blind,
There on my knees in front of that fireplace, my heart sank. All I could say was “Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I asked her, Do you think he would mind if I thanked him for serving his country? She said, No that would be great.
When I finished down stairs, and climbed back up the steps, her husband was by himself sitting in the kitchen. I walked over and introduced myself, and said, Sir I’d like to thank you for serving your country, and laying your life on the line to protect freedom for all of us here.
He shook my hand, and said, Your welcome. As I finished my gas check on the rest on the rest of the house, all I could think about was how we go on about our daily lives here in America, giving little thought to the extreme sacrifice of our men, and women of our armed forces who are laying it all on the line for us, everyday, with no regard to the fact that they may be injured, or permanently disabled, or even killed to protect our freedom.
I prayed for this man, and the others like him who are still laying it all on the line for America.
We take our freedom so lightly here in America
I urge you to keep praying for our brave men, and women who are risking their lives everyday for us while serving our country. Not just in Iraq, but all around the world.
I know that a lot of people are down on President Bush for sending our troops to Iraq, but this country’s colors don’t run, never have, and never will. Freedom is not free. It costs, but these men and women, and our President deserve our respect, our honor, our prayers, and our support.
Not a bunch of whining when things don’t go as quickly, or exactly as we had hoped.
The President holds on office, that we, the American people, because of our freedom, voted him into. If you don’t respect the man, at least respect the office he holds, and continue to pray for him, and support him, and our troops! We could have a dictator like Sadam, thank God for our freedom, and thank God for men like this man who put his life on the line for us.
Keep on praying American Christians. Without our prayers, We will not be one nation under God, but just one nation under.
This is one man’s humble opinion, and you may not agree, but thank God we live in America where we have the right to disagree. This is a great country, it’s not perfect, but there’s no other place on earth I’d rather live. God Bess you, our troops, our President, and God Bless America.
A humble Servant Of Christ,
Don Tipton

Bio for contemporary Christian artist, and songwriter: Don Tipton
Once in awhile an artist comes along that does not quite fit the mold. They are not just another artist that is shaped from the cookie cutter that the music industry tries to use in shaping musicians, and their music to sound the way that record executives think they should sound, and their idea of what the artist should look like in order for them to be big stars, and for their music to sell in the public market place.
Even the Christian record companies have fallen into the trap that all artists have to have a certain look, or style of music to be what they consider successful.
What is success in Christian music anyway? Is success being able to sell millions of albums, or is it being able to stand before God on judgment day knowing you did your best to serve Him with the talents, and gifts He has given you.
Something tells me that a lot of the Christian musicians of today will stand before the Lord on judgment day, and though they have sold millions of albums, God will look at them, and say, depart from me, I never knew you.
Success in the eyes of God is simply this, did you do your best to honor God with the talents He has given you? Have you shared the gospel message, and spoken the truth of God in your music without compromise, or fear of what the world will think of you? Were you true to His calling, or did you sell out to the music industry machine that says, walk this way, talk this way, sound this way, and you will be a success!
Yes, once in awhile an artist comes along who is not afraid to speak the truth of God in their music. To share the word of God without compromise, and the desire to worship, and praise the risen Lord Jesus Christ without apology.
Don Tipton is one of those artists who lays it all on the line in the lyrics of his songs. Why?
It is simple, because Don Tipton is out to please God, and honor Him, and not man, or the music industry machine.
Don Tipton may never sell millions of albums, but when He stands before God on judgment day, he will know he has done his best to be a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, who is the author, and finisher of his faith.
Born in southern Ohio, where he learned to play guitar from his Uncle Howard who taught him a few basic chords.
Don was brought up in a musical family, that would gather on Saturday nights to share a meal, and then play country music on an old front porch for friends, and neighbors.
In high school Don was introduced to rock music, and started a band with his best friend Al. They were called, The American Destiny, and they mostly played at high school dances, birthday parties, and local festivals.
After graduation, Don, and Al started a band they called , Magic Mountain, and they played in bars, and nightclubs around southern Ohio.
In 1976 Don, and his wife were born again, and became new Christians. They decided, to take their small child, and move to Detroit, Michigan. Together they spent the next twenty years, raising four daughters, and growing in the Lord, with Don being active in their local church worship band.
Don played in several Christian rock bands during this time. Those bands played at coffee houses, youth meetings, churches, and even opened a few times for some big name Christian acts.
These bands played all original material, most of which was written by Don himself.
In 1996, Don decided to go solo, so Don, his wife, and youngest daughter ( who was a senior in high school), moved to Nashville, TN.
Don released his first solo album called , Holy Fire, in October 2005.
Now, thanks to the modern day internet, Don Tipton songs are being heard all over the world on web sites, artist sites, podcasts, internet mp3 downloads, and blog sites.
The album, Holy Fire, along with his first secular country album, Raised On Country, are both available at www.cdbaby.com/all/tipton or if you prefer digital MP3 downloads, you can get them right here at isound for $.99 each.
The album, Holy Fire, is full of his passionate love for Christ.

Country Artist & Songwriter: Don E Tipton, growing up in the hills of southern Ohio in a musically talented family, country music is in his blood, heart felt songs such as, "It Was Country", a song based on his Saturday night family gatherings to share a meal, and then listen to his Uncle Howard, and family play country music, until he reached the age of thirteen when he got his first guitar, which is told of in the song, "I Was Raised On Country". His Uncle Howard taught him a few basic guitar chords, and music was seared into his life forever. To this day, Don E Tipton has written hundreds of songs that until recently, when he finally made the move to Nashville, were never heard outside his family, and friends, and now because of the modern day internet, Don E Tipton songs are being heard around the world, from the sweet love songs written through the inspiration of the love of his life, his wife Paula, songs such as, "A Little Good Lovin'", and "Love Song From My Heart" , to the beautiful duet ballad, "I'll Be Here For You", sung with accompaniment of his oldest daughter, Gabrelle Ricketts, an awesome musician, and singer in her own right,to the traditional country sound of, "In Fifteen Minutes".
These are songs that will touch you where you live, because you will find yourself relating to their message. Don E Tipton's style of music can not be held to a single style, from the country rock sounds of, "When Love Arrives", to the Rockabilly sounds of, "A Little Slice of Paradise", there's even a country waltz song by the name of, "Could Have Been Me", a song written through the inspiration of the many men, Don E Tipton has counseled over the years, who had a good woman, and a good marriage until lust entered their lives, and they broke the vows of their marriage, and afterwards, live with the quilt, and regret, from a moment of weakness, and sin, and then had to partake of the bitter result of their unfaithfulness.
These are songs that will move you, and touch you right where you live.
Remember the name, because you will be hearing a lot about it in the not so distant future. Country Artist & Songwriter: Don E Tipton, and his first solo Country album, "Raised On Country", and be on the look out for his upcoming album called, "Play Your Cards Right",due out the first of the year of 2006. More of this man's unique brand of music that is filled with real life experiences, and memories that almost come alive as you hear them, and any one of us can relate too.
