In the mid 70's, Donna Summer emerged as an artist to range an era. She had more longevity because she had more range. She could sing slow and sweet, rough and funky, breath and sexy. Born Adrian Donna Gaines in Boston on December 31, 1948. She started singing in church, later performing in local clubs with the band Crow.. At age 18, she auditioned for a Broadway production of Hair and toured in Europe. She came to lights and caused a musical revolution with a experimental recording intended not for release but as a demo for another singer. Summer and the producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte concepted the first 12" disco remix of the history, with the song "Love To Love You Baby", with 17 orgasmic minutes, in the words of Neil Bogard , president os Casablanca Records, the first label of Summer. After that, songs like "Could be magic", "Mac Arthur Park", "I feel Love" and "Hot Stuff", became the greatest songs of Disco Era. And Summer became the greatest Diva of this Era.
Her Duet with Barbra Streisand in Enough is Enough is so overpowering and the "Last Dance" taken from "Thanks god, it's Friday" soundtrack is considered the more revolutionary song of all seventies.
In the 80´s, she didn't stop singing. With ups and downs, her career kept going and she was in the hit parede with such powerfull songs like "She works hard for the money", "Love is in Control", "Romeo", "I don't wanna get hurt", "This time I know it's for real" and a special version of Broadway Musical Evita, with "Don't Cry for me Argentina".
In the early 90's , another partnership with Moroder gave to world the great "Carry On", a return to the disco era.
Her last concept is " VH1 - Live and More Encore", a live record with 2 new songs, tha includes a version of " Con te partiró" and Summer remais her superstar status...
