This year, Lord became the Number 5 Most Popular Unsigned Crossover Artist on MySpace in the Reggae category!
As an artist, songwriter, producer and performer, Donny B. Lord's history helps define his varying talents and eclectic mélange of musical sounds.
Born in St. Lucia in the British West Indies and traveling the world at an early age, Lord grew up immersed in the Caribbean, American, and European cultures.
During his childhood, Lord was trained as a vocalist, an actor, a martial artist and a dancer in the studies of Modern, African, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Ballet. But it was in music that Lord found his strongest passion and he took inspiration from the musical sounds of Pop, R&B, Reggae, Rock, Middle Eastern, and African, to establish his own distinct musical style that can best be described by mentor Jackie Jackson, Michael Jackson's eldest brother and member of the legendary Jackson Five, – "a fusion of mainstream contemporary Pop music with Caribbean roots."
Currently, D.B.L. is hard working in the studio producing his first complete album. With soulful Pop vocals of Michael Jackson, the raspy cries of Bob Marley & Sting, the urban sounds of the Caribbean and Hip Hop, Lord continues to produce mainstream music with strong, influential international roots.
His Latin/Dancehall “Fire!”, featuring platinum-selling Costa Rican recording artist, Paco, has been featured in advertising campaigns for Motorola and Verizon, earned second place in the Dance Category of the International Songwriting Competition, being selected out of 11,000 entries from more than 60 countries, and was featured in the Emmy-award winning television series "The District" and "Cane" on CBS. Lord's "Soldier For Love" reached #2 on the African Reggae charts and his R&B crossover slow jam"Stay" reached #4 on the East African charts. He has had seven songs in six of the Top 10 categories on Broadjam.com. His 4-song EP "We Can Do It Like..." is available on
Last year he wrote and produced "Brat Girls"ť and starred in his first music video for the song, which received almost two million views on MySpace and can still be seen on YouTube. The message-themed video parodies the irresponsible ramifications of the "Party Like a Rock Star" Hollywood lifestyle. While visibly showcasing Lord's multi-talents as a dancer and performer, as well as a singer, songwriter, and music producer, the message is abundantly clear. Lord recently completed his second music video for his song “Addicted” which reached the semi finalist round for KIIS FM’s “My Big Break”.
In his personal life, Lord is a personable, well spoken, articulate and respectful young man who values education as well as his career. Growing up, he attended some of the most academically challenging private schools in the United States as well as Europe and he recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Public Relations with Honors. He is well trained at dealing with the media, as his father is a legendary maverick in the political field.
As his career reaches new heights, this self-starter and extremely hard working artist continues to ride the wave of the online independent music industry revolution that has given him a base, and is creating new possibilities every day in life, music and in the arts.
