A notoriously eclectic bunch, The Dont's spend an inordinate amount of a time improvising in their San Francisco studio, and retain nearly seventy hours of internal recordings since their inception in 2003. They have received airplay and interviews on KUSF, KALX and KZSU.
Presently putting the final touches on their forthcoming release "Inner El Camino", recorded at SF Soundworks and John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone. The Dont's expect a release date for Fall 2006. On their forthcoming release, The Dont's will feature Ralph Carney (Carneyball Johnson, Tom Waits, B-52s) on baritone sax, trumpet, clarinet and flute, Nate Cavalieri on piano/organ (Lesser Lights) while expanding their indie rock palate to incorporate everything from saucy New Orleans style romps, crusty psychedelica and their trademark no-fi balladry.
In April 2005, the band released Misc Radio Leakage, a binaurally recorded freak rock treasure chest of songs fueled by the post-9/11 world of confusion, paranoia, and towel-cape dissidence. Leakage found the four pursuing dark melodic passages inspired by Can, The Fall, Flaming Lips, Bauhaus, and vintage Talking Heads. The self-released record garnered acclaim from nearly two dozen national zines, publications and online review rags.
Before the scenester era and the OC revolution, there was a time when independent rock ballyhooed heart on sleeve delivery, disregard for image and melodies too jagged and real for syndicated radio. The Dont's usher back a bygone era and whip it with more than just the white belt.
