The Drivers Eyes rise from the ashes of Melbourne band John Brown's Body. Under this moniker from 1998, the band developed their own unique sound, while independently becoming a popular and regular feature act at venues in Melbourne. Original members John Danyi (song-writing, vocals, guitar) and keyboard player Chris Docherty were joined by double bassist Mark Carson and drummer Anthony Bennett in mid 2001. Recording of their debut album Reckless Love was completed in late 2002.
The music can been described as semi acoustic rock n' roll, combining contemporary and traditional influences. The songs themselves have a universal quality with an emotional edge. The vocals are distinctive, while the acoustic guitar and double bass resonate with the drum kit and subtle percussion. Alternating arcane organ and baby grand piano orchestrate the music further with textured electric and lap steel guitars.
The Drivers Eyes have successfully released their debut album Reckless Love, which has received a good response from radio and street press. With the recent addition of Richard Clark on Electric Guitar and Marty Steinecker on drums the band looks forward to the consolidation of their already growing reputation both here in Australia and the International markets.
