| Christopher Lawson (Durty Bo Dean) was introduced to hip hop around the age of fourteen though his older brother Terry, blessing him with the sounds of now legend heavyweights such as LL Cool J, and Kool Moe D. Like most younger brother’s Chris looked up to his older brother trying to emulate his style and swagger. Then without even noticing his brother had actually turned into the person that created the foreground of bringing the hip hop culture into his life. Although hip hop was in his life now and he embraced the culture as his own he still had not discovered his true talent of being an artist in the culture he was so devoted to. It wasn’t until after he graduated high school and moved with his family to Tallahassee, FL that he began writing lyrics to the sounds of DMX & Outkast. After months of writing lyrics (which he never shared with anyone) he met an independent group called “5 Star” who he took a chance and shared some of his lyrics with. Surprisingly enough they were very impressed, they then got him some production together and he began recording eventually becoming one of the members of there group. The group did not stay together long, but even after the group breaking up Chris still stayed determined for his music to be heard and to make it in the industry! Continuing on the struggling road to be successful he went through various trials and tribulations from shady independent record labels, promoters, and so called managers. Now seven years into the grind he has educated himself to not trust anyone but himself to get himself where he wants to be. He is a product of the new generation of music with his own unique swagger and style with unbelievable talent that is worth more than your average recording contract. Often referred to as the "Alabama Alligator" with an amazing stage presence and gaining a tremendous amount of respect on the underground scene the reality of life has kept Chris humble remembering where he came from and where he currently is and where he wants to go. Always remembering that he has been blessed with a gift which is not to be abused, because in this industry you can be hot one day and not the next, so every chance he gets to take it to the next level has to be taken. He recently was able to do a promo tour with Capitol Recording artist Jiggolo in which they opened for Ice Cube. The industry remains a hard to capture world since Chris has been very close to achieving his dreams, so close he could taste, but always falling just short he truly believes that when it is supposed to happen God will let it happen. Admitting through all his struggles the biggest one has been his music falling on deaf ears & sufficient funding to back his project to promote it efficiently. Nonetheless it has not stopped the progress with a fan base that grows daily and a new team of dedicated individuals to push his music to the streets it is just a matter of time before the world will experience the talent of Durty Bo Dean. One of his future goals is to do a track with Big Boi (Outkast) & Timbaland, which would be a smash GUARANTEED! Keep a look out this is one artist to watch |
