EARTH LAB: The brainchild of former HAWKWIND guitarist, JERRY RICHARDS. Together with long time writing partner and current member of SONIC BOOM'S 'SPECTRUM/EAR' combo, ALF HARDY (TUBILAH DOG, CROKODILE TEARS), EARTH LAB exists as a vehicle for some of their more exotic and ambitious audio aspirations.
The project draws on the talents of many friends and musical acquaintences, including: Former HAWKWIND members, STEVE SWINDELLS, (who, alongside Jerry, has played an integral part in the song writing for the album) on vocal and keyboards, RON TREE (vocalist and Hawkwind frontman during the 1990's) and the legendary violin skills of SIMON HOUSE (High Tide, Mike Oldfield, David Bowie, Japan.) Also taking part are CULTURE CLUB drummer, JON MOSS, and MASSIVE ATTACK bass player WINSTON BLISSETT, both of whom Jerry first met through Steve Swindells, and subsequently collaborated with on Steve's DAN MINGO recording project over the last couple of years. Former SUPERNATURALS and THE MIX drummer, ROBIN HILL, completes the core line-up of the project, with his long standing rhythm section partner, BARRY JONES, playing bass on several of the songs from the brand new EARTH LAB album, 'ELEMENT'. CHRIS 'BB' ALDRIDGE came into the recording session to play his sublime sax and flute after a phone call from Robin convinced him to get involved. Jerry's old friend and former SUN MACHINE and STAR NATION (with HAWKWIND drummer RICHARD CHADWICK) member, bassist STEVE TAYLOR, completes a Trans Atlantic connection.
This is truly a supergroup of epic proportions, which takes the audio to a new un-paralleled dimension on the world rock music scene. |
