O’Neil Bryan was born on September 11, 1975 in Seaview Gardens, Jamaica, West Indies. He got the name, Elephant Man, from a nickname. His soccer friend and fellow reggae artist, Crack Skull, used to call Elephant Man, “Dumbo the Elephant,” for his large ears; which people said reminded them of the Disney film. In 1991, while still in high school, Crack Skull put Elephant Man into contact with some of his music industry connections. The result was Elephant Man hitting the studio and recording some beats. He soon became a member of the group, Scare Dem Crew. Soon after the group’s first release, they disbanded. Elephant Man, however, was unwilling to accept failure. He began working as a solo artist. This is where he started his trademark of bleached yellow hair. This is also around the time where he received the nickname, “Energy God,” for his high-spirited, fun live shows. In 1998, Elephant man performed on dancehall night at the annual Reggae Sumfest music festival. In 2000, he had hit singles with “Watchi Pum,” “Replacement Killer,” “You Slacker You,” and “Pum Pum.” In 2001, Elephant Man collaborated with former Scare Dem Crew artist, Harry Toddler, to record the single “War War War.” Later that year, Elephant Man recorded, “War War War.” The single was about the 9/11 attacks (which occurred on Elephant Man’s 26th birthday). In 2003, Elephant Man released Good 2 Go. The album features the hit single, “Pon de River, Pon de Bank.” The single, which was a hit on urban radio, is being played a lot on MTV. The album, Good 2 Go, also features artists such as, Rayvon, Bone Crusher, Jimmy Cosier, and Killah Priest. Elephant Man will also be featured on singer, Mariah Carey’s new album. Elephant Man is also featured on Lil’ Jon’s remix, “Get Low,” with Busta Rhymes.

Nuff people probably never knew but Jamaica's got bare talent. | TrishlaWilliams | | Elephant man did not make up the dance. Neither did Sean Paul. What yall do not know is that a man named JOHN HYPE makes up the dances. And the artist in jamaica is sing baout the dnaces he makes up. So when a new beat or "riddim" they will have a song to dance to. He is actually signed to a record company to exclusively make dances to these songs. Don't hate ele.....sean paul far from making dances boo! Ele is the one who is introduce them in the dance. | siddys | | elephant has been around fo years at tha top whereas sean has only jus broken thru. ele's been dancin that dance fo ages in tha west indies an he jus getin inta tha US recentli give him a chance haters | jiggyX7 | well, who eva think elephant man copied dont kno shit.plus elephant man was out from god knows when(but u wuddin kno dat).i iz a reggae fAN and i kno wha da deal iz.u dont needs 2 be hating on him he makin his money.and ur right john does make up da dance bout dat dont mean shit, u dont like it u cud bring ur ass 2 da bahamas and let me kno.bye and have a nice day. | bosslady | | | |
