| I started watching American Bandstand' with my uncle when i was five or six and became interested after seeing 'Little Richard',Chuck Berry',' Bobby Rydell' and other known artist of the day and i wanted to learn to write and sing songs.I wrote song poems years before i could play guitar.I wrote song poems in the fifth grade and i wrote a song for my teacher my last day at school for the summer,the song was named after my teacher 'Ms. Lukens' and that was the title of my song.I usually sang popular melodies of other songs when i sang my lyrics.I got my first guitar when i was about 10 or 11 and i didn't take it serious until my family moved from my hometown of middletown,ohio to dayton,ohio which is a larger city with more music happening.My mothers side of the family was where the music came from.My mother and all of her sisters played piano and organ,my uncles played sax,trumpet and trombone.My little brother started on sax but didn't follow up,my oldest sister played violin.You can read my bio more extensively at my official site @ www.interjazz.com/emmettnorthjr. and www.jazzreview.com/articledetails.cfm?ID=1686.Ciao my musical brothers and sisters,Emmett North Jr. |
