A two year hiatus from the music scene has seen The Father, J. O'Brien's return to the San Francisco stage with a sound that has been described as everything from experimental rock to folk and blues, putting to music the images of big city nights after the bars have turned off all their neon signs, just before the light of a new day. There is a beauty in the darkness of his songs that few have been able to capture. His almost silent whispers to his growling screams with a boot stomping fever, compounded by the stark contrasts in ambience and tempo command the attention of a live audience, forcing them to hang on his words, trapping them in the images he paints. Moments where the moon is the only light beyond the skyscrapers and a barstool with change in your pocket is all you need. It's a bittersweet dream, and he invites you to live it as he does, through his music. The music of The Father, J. O'Brien.
