| Rising from the ashes of no previously awesome bands whatsoever is FENWICK. This band, comprised of Jenna Lemieux (bass), Colleen Gerossie (guitar, vocals), and Joanna Petren (drums), all from the Merrimack Valley area in Massachusetts, is dedicated to having fun and making sure everyone in their vicinity is having fun too, even if it is at their own expense.
Don’t be fooled by the term “pop-punk”, which is commonly used when referring to FENWICK. Unlike the music coming from the bland, dime-a-dozen, ridiculous “pop-punk” bands showcased on MTV’s “TRL”, Fenwick plays interesting, fast-paced, original songs with pleasant surprises and honest lyrics. Since 2002, the band has acquired quite a fan base despite having never officially released an album and having relatively no merchandise. They have received significant attention both locally – in being featured numerous times in MA publications such as the Boston Phoenix, the Lowell Sun, and The Outlet – and nationally, in being interviewed and spotlighted on popular Chicago, Illinois webzine SayRah.net, and in being one of twenty Boston bands to compete in Little Stevie’s Underground Garage Battle of the Bands in 2004.
Despite working full-time jobs and attending college as full-time students, Fenwick has managed to play over 70 shows during their career together. Various venues that have requested and received the pleasure of Fenwick’s presence have included The Middle East and T.T. The Bear’s in Cambridge, MA; Northeastern University, Emerson College, and The Roxy in Boston, MA; Trinity College in Hartford, CT; Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, MA; Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH; and The Flywheel in Easthampton, MA. Also included in the band’s performance repertoire is a set on Northeastern University radio station WRBB and a set at the University of Massachusetts: Lowell’s 2002 Freshman Orientation – a gig which resulted in two members of the band playing their very own college orientation.
Fenwick plans to record their debut album in the summer of 2005 and tour in support of this album. They have been primed and have primed New England with their no bullshit attitude, and are prepared to leave their awesome mark on the local and national punk rock scenes.
