George Michael ,an englishman with greek parents,was born with the name Yorgos Kyriatou Panayioutou in Bushey(England)on June 25th 1963.
Selling 75 million albums and singles over his career with 14 album(includes remix albums) releases with the band Wham(82-87) and as a solo artist(87-present),George achieved fame and a reputation as a great songwriter writing all of his own material and credited as a great performer,best selling artist and entertainer.
His highlight commercial albums being part of the british infasion period in the United States were Wham's 'Music from the Edge of Heaven'(1986)which sold 12 million copies worldwide and his solo debut'Faith'(1987)which sold around 22 million copies worldwide to date and for which he took home a grammy as best album in 1987.
George has not only seen success but also setbacks in his career such as legal problems with Sony music for which he eventually had to fork over 4 million dollars losing his case in 1993 and years of refusals to properly market himself while working for Sony where both parties end up losing millions of dollars and fans,with the media's heavy criticisms of speculations of alleged arrogance and fueling years of suspicions of his private lifestyle.
Eventually Steven Spielberg's company Dreamwork records has since bought his contract out of Sony for a record 54 million dollars in 1996.
This wasn't the only scandal......
Being a hearttrob to many female fans for decades came to a stop when in 1998 the star was booked for lude behaviour in a men's bathroom in Beverly hills,concluding his bisexual and eventually gay lifestyle as the star 'came out of the closet' publicly.
George saw his career tomble somewhat after the incident as his record sales plunged to million selling status of albums like'songs of the last century(1999),'best of...(1998) from the multi million selling status he had before with albums like 'faith','listen without prejudice'(1990,8 million worldwide),older('96,9 million).
Regardless of the scandal George is undeniably a major asset to the music world and with an estimated fortune of 200 million dollars and a huge catalog of songs to his credit where he also wrote many songs for artists like Pepsi and Shirley 1987 hit'Heartache',Deon Estus'Heaven Help'.
Fans around the world are now anticipating his upcoming album in 2004 named'Patience',which will most likely will be a masterpiece from this talented star as fans have experienced from him in the past........to be continued.
