The Geto Boys we know as Willie D, Bushwick Bill, and Scarface stopped rappin in a group in 1993...
Brought together by James Smith the group first started with DJ Ready Red and Sir Rap-a-lot. Little Billy, the 4 foot 8 dancer was featured in thier albums and later became full-time as Bushwick Bill. They broke up shortly in 1988. Smith later called Wesly Dennis, (Willie D). Brad Jordan (Scarface) was called later. He was previously known as Akshun.
Scarface did not start life off right. Born in the South Acres he was your regular problem child. At an early age he was kicked out of his house and lived with his grandparents. Then he started sellin drugs. At 16, as an attempt to get out of the game, he released his first single "Big Time" under the name Akshun.
Smith knew he had somethin. Scarface signed him with The Geto Boys in 1989.
Willie D was born in the 5th Ward of Houston. He was a great rapper and was definetly goin somewhere. Strangely enough Willie D and James Smith shared the same barber. The barber gave Smith Willie D's number and he signed with Rap-a-lot records as a solo artist. He joined Th Geto Boys in 1989.
Bushwick Bill was born in Jamaica and moved to NYC in 1987 to be a dancer. Wantin some change, he moved to Houston.
He met James Smith in a club and convinced that he could rap and signed him with The Geto Boys in 1987.
They had many hit songs like "Mind of a Lunatic" and " Damn it Feels Good to be A Gangsta." Thier first Album was "Grip it on That Other Level." In 1991 Willie D broke off from the group. He was replaced by Big Mike. But in 1995 they got back together during a reunion. They recorded "The Ressurection." They went thier seperate ways after that, persuing solo careers...
