Gudlaugur Kristinn Ottarsson - alias: The Third Ear/GKO/GodKrist/GodBless - launched his music-carrier from the very early age of two - and often devastated the gramophone/radio system of his parents - with frequent Hums, Buzzes and Cracks.
He was very generous with his melodic voice - and made frequent appearances on the Icelandic Children Radio - as well as kindergartens around Reykjavik in the 50s - and as an enthusiastic student of music in the 60s, he more or less drained his music teachers, and from the age of 18 has not encountered one since. Throughout school years he actively ran miscellaneous bands - from Kindergarten and right through his University years in the 70s.
As a young boy by his free will - he maintained small hydroelectric power plants in rural Iceland as well as Farming - and became involved in electricity, heat, sound and lighting ever since. Electronic, Acoustic and Magnetic equipment of a wide variety - for various applications - such as recording studios, radio stations, power supplies for musical instruments, underwater communication systems, software and algorithms for navigation, high frequency geo- or helio- thermoelectric generators, cooling-systems for optoelectronic components with thermoelectricity occupies GKO as well as writing several scientific papers, patents and technical literatures - some published in international journals and proceedings other classified while many reside at his website: (www.islandia.is/gko/SEE.HTML).
GKO's Science and Music are conducted hand-in-hand and very often, a music peace is composed, during or after discoveries, intuitions or inventions - and vice versa.
By fortune or luck GKO has made music and guitar performances as a composer, collaborator and/or contributor - on over 50 CDs or Vinyl-records that amounts to about two records each and every year.
Presently GKO actively makes contribution to Progressive Guitar Music by his unique arrangements of the works of J.S. Bach, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie, Megas, Kukl, ... , himself, ... to name but a few....
