GODSMACK is:
Sully Erna-Vocals
Tony Rambola-Guitar
Robbie Merril-Bass
Shannon Larkin-Drums
Where did they get their name? It came when one of the members got a bad cold sore and Sully made fun of him. The next morning, Sully had a cold sore. The band said that God smacked him. Hence, Godsmack was created.
The band's first album, Godsmack (or selftitled), was released in 1998. The first single was Whatever. This song started Godsmacks climb to success. They then put out Voodoo. This song has a killer bassline and a good beat, along with catchy lyrics.
The band then released Awake, their sophomore album, on the Halloween of 2000. The album went on to sell 3 million albums. It broke chart records from 2000-2001. The instrumental track Vampires was nominated for Best Instrumental.
In 2002, wrestling superstar The Rock talked to Sully and asked him to help with the soundtrack to The Scorpion King. Sully agreed, and Godsmack made I Stand Alone, and it was the number 1 single at rock formats all over the nation, and it was the most played Active Rock track. It got two grammies:
1.Best Hard Rock Performance
2.Best Rock Song 2003
2003...the band puts out Faceless. Straight out of Line tops charts and countdowns. The song Serenity is released, and met with a warm welcome, and then given a dance remix.
Godsmack has become one of rocks biggest, hardest bands. With their superstardom, they definitely aren't Faceless.
