Musicians contributing are all outstanding Norwegian professional jazz musicians: Per Einar Watle on acoustic guitar, Jens Fossum on double bass, Karl Strømme on trumpet and Erland Dahlen on the drums/percussion.
Gunhild herself writes both melody and lyrics. The album consists of her own material as well as songs by other composers, among them the French classic "Les Parapluies de Cherbourg", sung in French. Some of the songs on the album are a product of the sentiments that came out of Gunhilds’ spending three years in Hammerfest, Norway, the world's northernmost town, and her encountering the polar landscape and natural light and darkness. Cover photos are shot in Spitsbergen, 78°N, midday, January 2006.
The album has been warmly met by the critics of Norway: “Gunhild Nyborg is the new vocal name in the jazz sky...”, “…the kingdom has found a new singer-songwriter absolutely worth listening to…”. “Transitions” is also released in Japan, and is available in multiple download sites including iTunes.
