HARRY THE DOG
“I was born and raised in and around London. I spent time in a couple of local bands in the 80's but nothing serious. My main concern at the time was getting money together as quickly as possible so I could go out, hang out and party on various
Mediterranean beaches.
In 1986 I left Europe for the first time, to visit New York, and liked it so much I stayed there. I also spent time in Florida and Texas before settling in Los Angeles in 1990. During my time in the US I have tried my hand as a bartender, a promoter, an actor, a fashion house sales rep, a broker, a painter and a scaffolder among other things, although I never considered any of them as a career because they all interfered with my social life!
In 1995 I met John X and after a particularly debaucherous night at a Hollywood karaoke bar, and after I performed "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" he talked me into trying music again, which led us to form Harry the Dog and the All-Star Soul Circus an ever changing collective of players we record and perform with.”
These include, but are not limited to:
Reeves Gabrels (Tin Machine, David Bowie),
John Derwood (Generation X),
Paul Raven (Killing Joke),
Mani (Primal Scream, Stone Roses),
Snake (Skid Row)
Michael "Railo" Railton (Flock of Seagulls, Live),
Tim Burgess (Charlatans),
Larry Love (Alabama 3),
Gary Tibbs (Vibrators, Adam & The Ants, Roxy Music),
Gary Taylor (Tank),
Paul Ill & Brock Avery (Wayne Kramer,Juliette Lewis),
Randy Billings (The Shore),
Bonehead (Oasis)
James "Steli" Stelfox (Starsailor).
No less a man than the late great Joe Strummer said "Harry the Dog needs to be heard the world over.” Now after years of visa problems his papers are finally in order to travel from California to Europe to spread his doctrine that "All the Birds Love Charlie" a song he wrote about his favourite dog!!!!
