Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy, first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," “Straight On,” “Even It Up,” and “Kick It Out.” They continued topping the charts through the ‘80s and into the ‘90s with hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” all of which showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 30 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and had a profound influence on rock music.
After taking a break in the late 1990’s to start families and pursue individual projects (Nancy scored five films for her husband, Cameron Crowe, including the Academy Award winning Jerry Maguire and Grammy winner Almost Famous, while Ann toured and also appeared in several theatrical productions), the Wilson sisters came back together as Heart in 2002, recorded and released a highly acclaimed album of 15 new original recordings in 2004 (Jupiters Darling, produced by Nancy) and have been touring steadily since. A live concert DVD (Heart Alive in Seattle) has been certified platinum. They have also filmed television specials for PBS (Sound Stage), DirecTV (Dreamboat Annie Live), and VH1 (Decades Rock Live: Heart & Friends featuring Alice in Chains, Dave Navarre, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, Rufus Wainwright et al).
This May, VH1 named Heart as a recipient of their 2007 Rock Honors awards at a dazzling performance event. And, on September 11, Ann Wilson will release her first ever solo album, Hope & Glory, featuring guest appearances by Elton John, Alison Krauss, Nancy Wilson, k d lang, Wynonna, Gretchen Wilson, Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, and Deana Carter, and produced by Ben Mink (Bare Naked Ladies, k d lang, Feist).
October 23 will see the re-release of “Dreamboat Annie” in a live CD and DVD format with five additional bonus tracks. More information is available at www.heart-music.com or www.myspace.com/heart.
