Soulful, beautiful and full of sass, only begins to describe this latest addition to the Hacienda Records family of artists. In a class all by herself, Hilda adds power and intensity to the Latin world. This 23-year-old singer/songwriter can captivate any audience with her special blend of soul, pop, rock and Latin influences. Hilda's debut single, Que Guapo Estas, is currently a hot item with Internet radio stations around the world, and is rapidly gaining popularity in commercial radio as well.
Born in 1983, Hilda's first solo performance was at the tender age of 4, in a Baptist Church in her hometown of Aransas Pass, Texas. She continued singing at many social events through her youth and teen years. While attending Texas A & M University, Hilda majored in music and studied voice with famed vocal coach Flicka Rahn. During her collage years, Hilda performed recitals not only as a vocalist, but also on piano and flute.
In 2002, Hilda auditioned and was hired as vocalist for a Corpus Christi blues band known as Phive, it was in those years that Hilda began to grow as a performer and was introduced to music as a profession. Her bubbly personality has made her a favorite in public circles, and Hilda also became a favorite to open sporting events with the singing of our National Anthem. As one who is always willing to perform at charities and benefits, Hilda has shared the stage with such national talents as Jay Leno and Clint Black. These benefits have helped raise substantial funds for worth causes of all kinds.
The year 2005 saw Hilda venture as a solo performer. She entered into an exclusive recording agreement with Hacienda Records and has been busy in the studio writing songs and working on her debut album. Now touring simply as Hilda Lamas, she and her 5-piece band recently broke the attendance record at one of Corpus Christis most popular music venues called The Mug Room. Hilda and her band performed on South Texas' longest running TV show "Domingo-Live", in May of 2006, and then had the honor of sharing the stage with Latin Grammy Award Winner, "Little Joe Y La Familia". To top off 2006 Hilda recieved her very first award nomination for "Best New Tejano Female Artist", on TejanoMagazine.net.
2007 has kicked off to a great start, with a Tejano Music Industry Award Nomination for "Rising Female Artist", the release of Hilda's second single "La Plaga", and also a chance to perform on "Domingo Live" for a second time. Get ready to catch Hilda on the road throughout 2007.
Her debut CD is scheduled for release this year, and with all the energy and excitement this artist brings to the table, it is already greatly anticipated and is sure to be greatly accepted. |
