so the horrorpops are my new best friends well, maybe not..but i met them ALL and theyre all incredibly nice and gorgeous and talented and im in love with them all :-)
so anywho, i'll try to recap the show as best as i can..
so i got there at about 1:30 (it was a 1:00 show...weird, but whatever). and as im walking up to the venue door, theres geoff kresge and naomi staning outside smoking. so i had a bit of a fan girl moment, but didnt talk to them cause i was too shy. so then i get into the venue, and niedermier walks right by. so another fan girl moment, but i didnt talk to him either.
i made my way over to the merch booth and bough a few shirts for my friend who couldnt make it to the show, and one for me.
then me and my friend who came to the show with me watched the first band, Left Alone, for a while from the back of the venue, until we spotted a rather large open area right at the front of the crowd. so we snagged it. Left Alone were alright. they played a nice little improve song entitled "i hate emo kids". that made me happy :-) then they were done, and me and my friend (erin) sat on the stage, until Roger Merit and the Disasters came on. they were good too. i only knew one of their songs though (Radio, Radio)..i'll download more of their stuff sometime. i got their setlist when they were done...and got pictures with Roger Merit and another pic with the guitarist, Reese. they apologized a lot for sweating all over us. heh, it was funny.
and then came the loooooooong wait for the horrorpops to come on stage. i sat on the stage rather impatiently while i waited.
when they came on, the crowd around us had gotten pretty big. i didnt think that many people would come for the horrorpops since the psycho scene is rather small in jersey, and it was a fucking 1pm show.
but anywho, the horrorpops were amazing. patricia is gorgeous in person. Kamilla and Naomi are the cutest girls ever. and of course geoff is hot at ever. (what, i didnt say that...) and then there was Kim Fucking Nekroman. standing right in front of me. KIM NEKROMAN. you have NO idea how excited i was. they played (and i can tell you the exact songs cause i snagged a set list :-P):
Ghouls
Hit'n'run
Drama Queen
Girl in a Cage
Trapped
Undefeated
Freaks in Uniform
Dotted with Hearts
Baby Lou Tattoo
Bring It On
Miss Take
SOB
Where You Can't Follow
Walk Like a Zombie!!
Kool Flat Top
Where they wander
the set list says they were gonna play psychobitches and julia...but they never did :-(
their show is so full of energy. the go go dancers are CRAZY. kamilla and naomi have all these random props that go along with certain songs...like a heart pillow for dotted with hearts (as well as glitter that was dump right on me), lolli pops for Miss Take, dead flowers for walk like a zombie, and toy guns for SOB. it was rather cute.
during one of the songs, kim held out his hand to me like he had a mic in it for me to sing into, and he was like "ITS NOT REAL!"
they sound awsome live.
i got pictures with Kim, Niedermier, Kamilla, Naomi, and Geoff. none with patricia cause i ran out of film by the time i saw her after the show :-( Neidermier, kamilla, naomi and geoff signed my set list...and kamilla, naomi and patricia signed my Bring It on vinyl that i bought at the show.
i talked to Kamilla for a little about how she liked jersey. she said it was nice and that she has a friend that lives real close to the venue.
and while neidermier was having what he said was a very much needed cigarette, i talked to him about stuff i cant remember causei was too excited. haha.
naomi is possibly the nicest, most soft spoken, tiny 'rockstar' ive ever met. she was soo sweet. kamilla too, but kamilla wasnt so tiny.
then me and erin walked around the town for an hour in the poooooring rain while waiting for a ride. that was pretty funny...
i hope i dont sound too dumb writing this. im pretty tired and not making much sense. but you guys get the idea.

WOW!!! That sounds like the best of the best of the best of times!!!!!
That is all I was thinking about all day long!!! Becca is going to get to see the HorrorPops tonight!!
You are so lucky!!!
And your description of the concert was totally great!! It made me feel like I was there!!!
(But I wasn't) *hangs head and sobs*
Did they look like they were really having fun playing? I mean not only when they were on stage, but afterwards when you got to talk to them, did you get the feeling that they really liked what they were doing?
Is Patricia as energetic in person as she looks like and sounds like on their cds? I bet she is!!!
Oh you lucky rockster!!! | GrayBeard |
Oh, I am so jealous now. :P
Your review wasn't dumb in the slightest! It was pretty informative. | spottyslippers |
man, my review doesnt even BEGIN to explain what a great time i had! like, combine all the fun ive had at tiger army shows ive been to, and you get a fraction of the amount of fun i had at this horrorpops show. it was just way too perfect. haha. i wore my new horrorpops hoodie all around six flags today with pride :-D
and yeah, it really did look like they were all having fun. they were all joking around and laughing and smiling on stage...and after the show they were all hanging out. the venue was incredibly humid though..so that was kind of a drag...but yeah, they seemed to all really enjoy themselves. id say out of all of them, patricia seems the most...um, not as approachable? but she was still a sweetheart.
argh. i miss the show so much :-( | shadowbug26 |
Becca, you should write a concert review for the review section here so that new fans who go there and read your review can see just how fabulous they are in concert!!
And I think they are going to get a LOT MORE FANS, because last night I was in the local music store, HASTINGS, which is a big chain music store, and they had the new HorrorPops CD highlighted on rack they have all the best selling cds on!!! | GrayBeard |
Becca, I think it is interesting that you said the HorrorPops concert was more fun than ALL the Tiger Army shows you have been to put together.
I thought it was my imagination, but when I first heard the HorrorPops my first thought was "this band has way more energy and enthusiam than TA". I made the comarison with TA because TA was the last cds I bought and listen to a lot prior to getting my first HorrorPops cd. | GrayBeard |
TA are great and everything, and i love them dearly, but youre right, the horrorpops have way more energy. and whoever had the idea to have go-go dancers on stage with them is a genius. kamilla and naomi are the stars of the show! its one thing to see a band where the performers are concentrating on the music, but when you have members of the band whos purpose is to make the live show fun, its a whole different experience.
ack. now all of you, go see the horrorpops! now! | shadowbug26 |
I wish I could go see them, but I don't think YUMA is on their concert tour!!!
The go-go dancers is a SUPER idea. I always wanted to do something like that with my bands but I was always over ruled.
Although once we were hired to play at a strip club and the ladies were supposed to dance on the stage with the band. But the law said they couldn't because it was illegal for anyone to be on the same stage as a stripper in PA. So they had to use a separate area.
And actually it didn't work too well since the only people who showed up were HORNY MEN who wanted to see the strippers!!! They were not really interested in our music!!! | GrayBeard |
