Hot Rod Circuit consists of Andy Jackson (singer, rhythm guitar), Casey Prestwood (lead guitar, vocals), Jay Russel (bass, vocals) and Wes Cross (drums). The group, which formed in Auburn, Alabama in 1997, at first called themselves Antidote. They released their debut album, Mr. Glenbowski, and were called “The Best unsigned Band of 1998” by Musician Magazine. Soon after, they changed their name to Hot Rod Circuit.
Hot Rod Circuit then relocated to Connecticut where they released, If I Knew Now What I Knew Then. In order to promote their new album, they toured with bands such as The get up Kids, Jazz June, and At The Drive-In. The group soon signed to Vagrant Records. In September 2002, they released their Vagrant Records debut entitled, Sorry About Tomorrow. Singer, Jackson, stated that this was the group’s first album he was completely proud of. In 2002, the group played 150 shows. In Fall 2002, they toured with Dashboard Confessional and also headlined a few shows. Hot Rod Circuit is often compared to Jawbox and The Get Up Kids.
