| Hotwired biography
Hotwired formed in April 1999, originally included dale on lead guitar/vocals, Becky on guitar, Sado on bass and groundsheet on drums. With this line up we played several gigs including a talent contest we entered for a laugh. To our surprise we made it through to the semi-finals only to be beaten by André and company, a vocal troupe, there really is no accounting for taste!!!!!!
In feb 2000 we went into the studio and recorded our first album, a 15 track cd entitled “pissed & Knackered.” this sold very well and the band received some great reviews , including a 7/10 in metal hammer, which generated a lot of interest in the band all over the country.
Unfortunately October the same year saw dale & Becky leave the band for various personal reasons. Smeg replaced dale on vocals and his son , Andy , came in on guitar. With a harder street punk sound and new material hotwired carried on gigging up and down the country..
In 2001 Andy left and Paul joined the band as lead guitar and we recorded a 6 track demo called lullabys for pissheads. The line up remained unchanged until 2004 when the band almost came to an end . Groundsheet left the band to pursue a career in alcohol but as luck would have it we found a great new drummer. The introduction of tom to the band gave hotwired a much better sound, even more improved when dale made a welcome return after an absence of 4 years. Feeling stronger and more confident we carried on gigging all over the uk to an ever growing audience.
In July hotwired recorded their new album “make it count” available from the band.
In august hotwired toured Romania and Bulgaria and were welcomed by a very enthusiastic audience.. Whilst on tour hotwired received a great deal of interest and were interviewed by a Bulgarian national TV station and several fanzines. On hotwireds return to England it was decided the band was going no further with its line up. So December saw smeg leave to concentrate on his business and Dave (aka highliners and death skulls) took his place.. With the introduction of some backing vocals hotwired have a great new sound.
The band is currently planning a return to Romania this year and a short tour in Italy also lining up new gigs around the country anyone interested please get in touch. We play sometimes for money sometimes for charity but mostly just for the love of punk rock!
