| Howard David Gray AKA Blade Gray, AKA Hippie Dave {not to be confused with pop artist "David Gray"} older brother of rock producer & guitar legend Kelly Gray of Queensryche, and Candlebox fame, was quite a formidable singer song writer in his own right. First teaming up with the drummer of “Bone” Brian Shanklin back in 1982. Together Gray and Shanklin had 3 tracks in the top 10 on local radio virtually overnight, with incidentally Kelly Gray performing the lead tracks, all under the flag of “Steel Sea” which was latter changer to “The Heat”. Gray was courted by several local rock bands over the years, however, having his roots in R&B, Dee as he is know by his friends grew tired of and eventually abandoned the hard rock scene in the late 80’. He eventualy branched off to record music more suited to his own tastes. These later tracks remained locked up for more than a decade on Dat tape. No one is sure why this collection of experimental and in some cases unfinished songs were never released, but its suspected that since the rather reclusive Gray, was also one of the top Seattle nightclub DJs during this time period, his music career along with these songs simply slipped through the cracks. Gray now lives in Bothell Washington USA, married to ex Zrock starlet Shannon Gates. They have a son and a daughter.
