Hybris began during the spring of 2006 in Murfreesboro, TN with the founding members Brandon Bell (Vocals), Chet Maynard (Guitar), Jody Thomason (Bass/Vocals) and John D. Miller (Drums). During the summer of 2006, Hybris added David Johnson on lead guitar, while Chet Maynard moved to rhythm guitar. With the addition of David Johnson, Hybris quickly wrote new material that would become the bands next album. In the spring of 2007, Jody Thomason decided to leave Hybris to focus on family, whereas he was quickly replaced by Charlie Wilson in the summer of 2007. Jody Thomason’s background vocals were replaced by John D. Miller. Charlie Wilson soon left Hybris during the fall of 2007 over personal matters not related to the band, and Chet Maynard moved from rhythm guitar to bass guitar. Our next addition happened during the spring of 2008, when our friend Jay Jewell stepped in on lead/rhythm guitar. David Johnson left Hybris in the summer of 2008 to pursue a business venture with his father, however, we kept moving ahead with only one guitarist at the time. A few months later, we met a guy named Sam Patton at a show we were playing out of town. We all got to talking, and Sam asked if he could come out and jam with us one afternoon. After a few practices, we all agreed on including Sam into the fold, seeing as how he and Jay complemented each other so well musically. The current lineup of Hybris includes Brandon Bell (Vocals), Jay Jewell (Guitar), Sam Patton (Guitar), Chet Maynard (Bass), and John D. Miller (Drums/Vocals).
Over the last two years, despite line-up changes and band members shifting instruments, Hybris has gradually been perfecting their unique style of metal, and has steadily become a rising force inside of the local metal scene. Hybris has also independently released two demos, three albums, and has been slotted for three compilation albums thus far.
