Imminent Psychosis was originally formed in early August 2002. The band played their first gig in February 2003, and has played over a 40 gigs since both local and interstate. A couple of lineup changes, including drummer in 2003 and most recently vocals in 2007 have kept the band fresh and direct. Imminent Psychosis has played with Australia’s top metal acts, including Psycroptic, Alarum, Double Dragon and Switchblade.
The bands influences came from an array of metal artist, from old school thrashers Slayer, Megadeth and Sepultura, to riff-based rockers Black Sabbath, Metallica and Pantera, to extreme Aussie metal acts such as Psycroptic and Damaged. However, Imminent Psychosis’ greatest talent lies in their ability to combine all these influences to create a style of music unique to the metal genre.
The debut full-length self-titled album was recorded in 2004, and reached #1 on the Powersurge Top 10 charts and was selected as "Feature Release of the Week" on 3DDD Radio in October 2004. Not unfamiliar to the Musicoz competition, the song “Shoot to Bleed” ranked 5th in 2006, and “Vengenace” taken from the new album also ranked in the top 10 of the Metal section in 2007. Their second album, entitled “Ruthless”, was released in August 2008 to an exceptional response and interstate shows are already booked to promote the album.
