From simple acoustic ditties to electric kissed, studio-tweaked ambient mood shifts, inchWORM always pushes for an emotional, & psychological experience. InchWORM's new Porchlight EP is a sparkling adventure in the radical-populist tradition of the late Beatles; the early, galactic-rock Pink Floyd; and Nirvana (pick any era). There are so many delicious melodies here, so much that can turn from calming to surreal and catchy, so much textures abound amid the guitars and piano.
The bulk of inchWORM is sparse and earthy, it's not experiment for experiment's sake. However, inchWORM do try too hard to change there sound at any moment, as if they're embarrassed of repetition structure, but ambition hardly makes them jagged. It makes them interesting. |
