Created in 1988 in New York by the foursome: Greg Drudy
(drums),Daniel Kessler(vocals & guitar),
Carlos Dengler(bass & keyboards), and Paul Banks
(guitar and vocals). The band started their gigs
early 2000 in places like Brownie's and the Mercury
Lounge. The also toured in the U.K. in April of
2001. Drudy later left the band and was replaced by
Sam Fogarino who induced Interpol with a more
Punk sound. Their first relese was their FukdID EP series.
Due to the increase in their popularity they played more shows
in the U.K. and started playing in France. In late November of
2001 Interpol fled to Connecticut to seek haven at once mental
hospital to record a full-length album which was titled: Turn on the Bright Lights. The dark and
hypnotic yet mellow sounds of this album turned Interpol from New
Yorks well known quartet into one of America's high powered
bands. Some inspirations to this powerful Indie Rock band are
Joy Division, Television and The Chameleons UK.
