Iron Maiden was started in the mid 70s. They were fronted by Steve Harris, and they burst onto the British rock scene in 1976. In 1978 Iron Maiden was playing in local clubs with their then lead singer Paul Di'Anno. The band then got a record deal and released Iron Maiden, or Self Titled, in 1980. The band followed self titled the year after in 81 with Killers. Then they then brought in The Number of The Beast in 82. Then in 83 they released Peice of Mind. 84 brough Powerslave, and the departure of Di'Anno. The band replaced Di'Anno with ex-Samson lead singer Bruce Dickenson, and released Somewhere in Time in 86, breaking there habit of releasing an album every year. In 88 they released 7th Son of a 7th Son. Iron Maiden showed that they were still around in the early 90's releasing Fear of the Dark in 92. The band quieted down, and took a break for the rest of the decade. They then showed that Iron Maiden hadn't gone anywhere with Brave New World in 2000. They also recently released Dance of Death in 2003. Iron Maiden have been around for 24 years, and aren't going to "Run to the hills" anytime soon.
